    The extraordinary service we achieve at CODE salon is accomplished through the unique method we have developed for matching each of our guests with an artist who truly understands their vision. We get to know our guests through an image planning consultation designed to help us understand their lifestyle, physicality, and aesthetic preferences. At CODE salon, we focus on artistry and empower each employee to be an educator. Our salon provides one of the strongest training programs in the industry. New talent who join CODE go through a 10 month intensive training program where they collaborate with and are mentored by an exceptionally strong professional team. For our guests, our training program means the best $45 haircut in the Bay Area. Beyond the traditional list of salon services, CODE aspires to be an exciting cultural and social resource. We host artist spotlight nights in which the community is invited to enjoy the work of local musicians, painters, photographers and other talent.     CODE salon is a creative collaboration founded by a group of beauty industry mavericks united by the desire to create something extraordinary. Together, we are answering a community need in San Francisco for a unique and exceptional salon experience. Our CODE team is led by Managing Director Cheryl Snodgrass and Style Director Louise Frost.


    Alisa Coppel, Senior Stylist, Style Educator

    Alisa’s passion for cutting hair began a long time ago.

    (She’s had scissors in hand since age 10.)


    A CODE pioneer, Alisa has blazed trails as a cutting specialist and men’s grooming specialist at the salon since its launch in 2010. She is a CODE salon educator recognized for her expertise in men’s barbering and passion for the artistry of men’s grooming in modern and classic styles. Alisa’s creative influences – weather, nature, lifestyle and individuality — drive her intelligent and creative approach to hair design.


    While Alisa’s professional career began relatively recently (2009), she has practiced her craft since childhood acquiring along the way a deep understanding of the physics, mathematics, science and, most importantly, the art behind cutting and styling hair.


    No stranger to formal training, Alisa has received advanced education with Kurt Kueffner, David Glover, Ruth Roche, George Morales, Doug Christiansen, just to name a few. A California native born and raised in Santa Cruz and Ukiah, Alisa now enjoys living in the gloriously diverse city of San Francisco.


    Courtney Day, Senior Colorist and Color Educator

    Courtney’s credo: inspire and be inspired.


    Courtney specializes in hair color and performs her craft extraordinarily well. At CODE since the salon first opened its doors in 2010, she serves as an educator in CODE’s color department. Courtney graduated from The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology where she received advanced training from Winn Claybaugh, George Morales, Debora Dietrich, and Ruth Roche. Since joining CODE, she has had advanced editorial styling training at Toni&Guy Academy of London and advanced Afro texture styling with Lisa Van.


    Courtney is originally from Ukiah, California and is compassionate, attentive to detail and dedicated to the salon industry. Her embrace of a diverse range of styles – edgy, sophisticated and classic — underpins her talent for achieving a customized look for every individual. Courtney specializes in blondes, loves texture, and enjoys special event styling, editorial, runway and weddings.

    Marianne Donovan, Lead Reservations and Guest Relations

    Marianne’s true north? Beauty and fashion.


    From a very young age, Marianne has had a strong passion for fashion. Forays into other realms have always led her back to the world of beauty and style. While earning a degree in Journalism and Graphic Design at Humboldt State University, Marianne managed a full-service salon overseeing reservations, the retail department and a team of artists’ schedules.


    Marianne’s post-college professional story incudes a chapter in the corporate world at a sports hospitality and marketing firm. She eventually returned home to the salon industry where she has gained sales experience with Aveda, Bumble and Bumble, Paul Mitchell Systems, Davines and Dermalogica. Marianne joined the talent at CODE salon in 2011.

    Olivia Fadda, Studio Colorist, Color Educator

    Olivia’s path to unique and sustainable looks for her guests? Relaxing experiences and trusting relationships.


    As a CODE Studio Colorist and Color Educator, Olivia’s goal in hairdressing is to use her passion for and knowledge of chemistry and color theory to create personalized, unique looks that are in sync with her guests’ personality and style. Olivia’s approach to delivering color that work for her guests includes providing a relaxing experience, building trusting relationships, keeping individual lifestyles in mind and always helping her guests maintain healthy hair.


    In June 2012, Olivia graduated from San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology with Advanced level honors. A commitment to continuing education drives Olivia to participate in some of the industry’s best training events including the Aveda Congress Advanced training and color training by Davines. When not making her guests happy at CODE, you can find Olivia growing her CODE community via social media, one dedicated post at a time.

    Louise Frost, Owner, Master Stylist, Education Director

    Louise is on a mission to deliver transformative haircuts AND 100% satisfaction.


    Louise is part owner of the salon where she is a leader, mentor and educator of artists. She played a vital role in CODE salon’s 2010 launch, an effort informed by a career in the beauty and style industry than began in 1997 Today, Louise is CODE’s Master Stylist and education director and is recognized for her technical chops, artistic expertise and established clientele. Louise has a deep education history that includes training at Toni&Guy, Long Beach Academy and London Academy; Vidal Sassoon, San Francisco; Rodney Cutler, New York City; Vivian Mackinder, San Francisco; Aveda Advanced Academy; Ruth Roche at Rare salon, NYC + San Francisco; San Rizz Longueras, Spain; as well as Aveda platforms in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco.


    Louise is a master in all aspects of cutting and styling hair and has made performing exceptional haircuts and smoothing processes her specialties. She loves to cut free form curls, dry and seamless looks, women’s bobs and edge style for men and women. Regardless of the hairstyle, Louise depends on a thorough consultation and analysis of a guest’s face shape to successfully perform extraordinary hair cuts.

    Jessica Jennings, Reservations

    Jessica thrives in the space where fine arts and the art of makeup overlap.


    A makeup artist extraordinaire, Jessica has been with CODE since 2013. She is currently pursuing a degree in Illustration at the Academy of Art University where she first developed a passion for working with makeup by participating in student photo shoots as a body paint artist.


    Jessica quickly discovered the similarities between the process of applying makeup and her illustration work. She now applies many of the techniques she has learned through fine arts study to her makeup practice. Jessica’s practice is equally influenced by trainings at Aveda, Dermalogica and with Deborah Dietrich. Her portfolio includes work with Bare Minerals and as a freelance makeup artist.

    John Skinner, Master Colorist, Texture Specialist, Color Educator

    Wildly creative, John is part of the CODE vanguard.


    John brings it to CODE: sophistication, an artistic sensibility, trend forward styling and hair color techniques from the world of high fashion. With the salon since its launch, John has put his highly evolved aesthetic to work building CODE’s color education program. Twenty-two years of extensive and diverse experiences working with some of the industry’s most lauded professionals underpin the coloring and teaching skills he employs at CODE today.


    John is known for his expertise with color, a talent that has its roots in his work with Toni&Guy. There, he helped fine tune and deliver Toni&Guy’s specialized Color Education Program and toured on their National Art Team as a platform artist. John has also contributed to the launch of products for L’Oreal Professionelle; worked the runways in NYC and LA Fashion Week for Aveda; and assisted and trained with internationally acclaimed artists including David Adams, Derrick Scurry, Miho of Twiggy Salon in Tokyo, Luc Espace, Ana Karzis, and Toni&Guy luminaries, Antony Mascolo, Sascha Mascolo-Tarbuck and Rowena Cuttruzola.

    Cheryl Snodgrass, Founder, Managing Director

    Style industry insider. CODE salon visionary.


    Eighteen years contributing to pioneering beauty and style industry endeavors has earned Cheryl a highly respected reputation in the field. Prior to launching CODE in 2010, she employed her talents at the Aveda Corporation where she worked directly with famed Aveda founder, Horst Rechelbacher, and the company’s team of industry mavericks. A member of the launch team for Aveda International, Cheryl acquired invaluable knowledge while with the company including a critical understanding of brand development for retail and manufacturing.


    The unique, guest-honoring environment Cheryl and her team have created at CODE is built upon her experiences leading and developing numerous high performance salons throughout her career. Cheryl has spent years as a salon industry consultant working nationwide with a broad range of clients including salon spas, cosmetology schools, artistic directors and education departments. As managing director of CODE, Cheryl continues to be recognized for her ability to lead and cultivate highly productive, dynamic, and integrity-based business models.





    The New Talent Team is a group of artists who are in the developmental stage of their careers at CODE salon. Currently participating in the final phase of our intensive training program, members of the New Talent Team execute high quality hair services and guest experiences. Many team members came to CODE with previous salon experience and all earn the compliment of being among the most talented in the industry.
